Femmes Vocales

This is a women's choir comprised primarily of academics who bring enthusiasm and dedication to singing demanding choral works. Their diverse repertoire ranges from classical music to world music and musicals.

On May 17, the choir will perform a cappella works for women's choir "Slavic Tonal Language" concert in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, and in June, they will present "World Music" in the Ceremony Hall of the University of Vienna. On December 17, 2026, and January 17, 2027, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 3 will be sung at the Musikverein. On June 11 and 13, 2027, two concerts with sacred a capella repertoire will be given.

Previous projects included Claude Debussy's "Trois Nocturnes," songs from Gustav Mahler's "Des Knaben Wunderhorn," Josef Gabriel Rheinberger's Mass in A major, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater," and Gabriel Fauré's "Messe des Pêcheurs de Villerville." The choir also performed selections from the musical "My Fair Lady" and "The Roaring 80s" featuring music by Queen and Jennifer Rush. In April 2025, the choir undertook a concert tour to Sichuan and Tibet.

You do not need to audition for this choir initially. An evaluation will take place at the end of the first semester, as certain musical knowledge is required to continue singing. Singers who prefer not to audition immediately can join the Voice Club Beginners for a year before transferring. We are particularly looking for altos for this choir, but all singers are welcome. The age structure of the choir is between 40 and 70 years, and the highest entry age is 65.
